Heather D. Johnson is elected to the Board of Directors of the National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum

June 05, 2009

Heather D. Johnson, an associate with Burford & Ryburn, L.L.P., has been elected to the board of directors of the National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum.   As a board member, Ms. Johnson will help promote and preserve the museum's goal of offering the visitor a true and complete historical perspective of the people and activities that built the unique culture of the American West.  The museum was formerly known as the National Cowboys of Color Museum and Hall of Fame.

"It is an honor for me to be elected to the board of a museum which offers visitors a collection of journals, photographs, and other long overlooked historical items that tell, perhaps for the first time, the complete story of the building of the American West," Johnson said.  "Actual history is removed from what you see on television.  Original societies were as diverse as the West is today.  Europeans, Africans, Asians, and other groups contributed to the development of The American West," said Johnson.  The mission of the Museum is to offer the visitor a complete recognition of the historical process.

"As always, we are delighted when our associates are able to participate in the community in which they work.  Mrs. Johnson is an outstanding young attorney, and she will serve the Museum well.  She will be an asset to the museum as she is with Burford & Ryburn," said David Weaver, a partner in Burford & Ryburn, L.L.P.'s eminent domain section.

Johnson is involved in all aspects of litigation.  Her practice is focused in the areas of eminent domain and employment litigation.  She is also active in the Dallas Bar Association, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and the J.L. Turner Association. Johnson can be reached at hjohnson@brlaw.com. The website for the museum is www.cowboysofcolor.org.
